Our founder Jonathan Dixon, completed his own Passivhaus EnerPHit plus retrofit in 2020, including a custom self-designed and installed home automation system, and advanced heating, cooling, ventilation and shading automation. This project one numerous awards and press coverage, including Hertfordshire RIBA commendation for Sustainability, The Times, Passive House Plus magazine, and BBC Newsnight.
Prior to starting LifeLogic UK, Jonathan was a software engineer at high profile companies including Symbian, Google Inc, and Deepmind UK, and worked on a wide range of high technology and communications software systems including Bluetooth, Google Maps, and the Android Operating system.
This experience makes us uniquely placed to solve hard problems in the building and construction space in new forward looking ways. Much as Software applications have revolutionized many areas of industry, from finance to shopping to travel, we believe that construction is on the brink of new phase of evolution enabled by technology developments and accelerated by the need to rethink how and what we build in order to tackle the climate crisis.
Home automation is revolutionizing the way we interact with our living spaces and is playing a pivotal role in enhancing energy efficiency. By seamlessly integrating smart devices and systems, homeowners can now remotely control and monitor various aspects of their homes, from lighting and thermostats to security and appliances. This level of control not only offers convenience but also contributes significantly to energy conservation. For instance, smart thermostats can learn inhabitants' routines and adjust heating and cooling settings accordingly, optimizing energy usage. Similarly, intelligent lighting systems can adapt brightness levels based on natural light availability and occupancy, reducing unnecessary energy consumption. Home automation empowers individuals to make informed decisions about energy use, leading to a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.
Energy efficiency is a pressing concern in today's world, with increasing emphasis on reducing carbon footprints and minimizing resource consumption. Home automation provides a comprehensive solution by utilizing technology to enhance energy efficiency across various domains. Smart home sensors and monitoring devices offer real-time insights into energy consumption patterns, enabling homeowners to identify wasteful practices and make informed adjustments. Integration with renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, can also be streamlined through automation, allowing homeowners to efficiently harness clean energy and potentially even contribute excess power back to the grid. As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to expand, the synergy between home automation and energy efficiency promises not only financial savings for homeowners but also a significant step toward a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
